Who is God?

You may notice two things from some recent blog posts.  First I’ve been engaging quite a bit with some theological issues specific to the Doctrine of God and also to do with what being human entails.  The former has focused on questions to do with whether God has emotions, the latter around sin temptation and desire as well as a look at human emotions as we have focused on empathy. These things are not unlinked.

Secondly you may detect some frustration with much of what has been written in recent years, especially from what I’ve termed the Neo-Classical-theists.

Often a reasonable report is that it is easy to criticise others’ efforts than to have a go yourself. “Do you think you can do any better?” Well, I’m not claiming I can do better but I have had  a go.  I’m not merely an arm chair critic.  One of the aims of Faithroots is to provide resources that teach theology, especially Systematic Theology by a pastor for pastors and for church members. The aim is to be accessible and practical

I’ve a particular concern to help equip those looking to serve in urban church ministry but who might not be able to access seminary training. For this reason alone I include technical theological terms and quotes from historic theologians. Normally, I would steer clear of these in popular level theological writing, however I also want to help make other theological works increasingly accessible.

I am currently working on Being Human, a doctrine of humanity.  To properly understand who we are though, we need to properly grasp who God is.  So I’d encourage you to have a read of Who is God?

Everything on Faithroots is made available free of charge. However, if you want to make a donation to support the work, you can do so here.
