I’m planning to reflect a bit more on the votes in parliament this week on Faithroots but this will be next week. Some quick thoughts though as starters.
1. When grievous things happen we should grieve and lament.
2. We should not be surprised at sin. Shocked, saddened and even angry yes but not surprised. This is the reality of now and not yet.
3. It is tempting in anger to pronounce God’s judgement on a land. However, we should not pronounce what we have not heard in direct revelation. The truth is that all creation is under the judgement of God’s wrath. No country is special or exempt. We will continue to see both evidence of judgement and evidence of grace until Christ returns.
4. We should not lose sight of compassion.
5. We should go back to basics. There are big culture arguments to win
Finally, we need to trust in God’s sovereignty. He is still Lord of Time and Space. He is still both good and great. So we need to come to him in prayer.
