Today is my 51st birthday meaning that I’m closer to 100 than I am to the day I was born. It’s a good opportunity to pause and reflect. The Israelites set up a stone that they called Ebenezer, a stone of help. This recognised both that they could look back on what God had done for them, thus far and forward trusting him for days ahead.
We have so much to be thankful for looking back over this past year. For our church family it has been an encouraging time as we’ve connected more and more into our local community with people from the estate immediately around us beginning to come along and join is. We’ve had baptisms and children’s thanksgivings. Signs of life in their different ways.
Looking forward, my prayer is that we will see more fruit and more baptisms in the year ahead. It’s also been encouraging to see growth in diversity, not just in attendance but among those who lead and teach. I hope we will see more of that.
My primary focus and desire is to see more churches planted into the urban West Midlands. It would be exciting to see us move closer towards that. I’d really love to see church plants into Perry Barr, Aston and Great Barr over the next few years. A great birthday present would be to hear from potential planters. If that could be you, drop me a line below.
