It’s our annual Harvest Festival this weekend. Normally, we would be welcoming everyone to a packed Chapel building for a big service together and we would gather in collections of food. However, we are not in normal times. However, we still want to celebrate God’s goodness to us, have a sense of the whole church family gathering and seek to share God’s goodness with each other and especially with those in need.
Therefore, there will be one service this week but as usual you can access through different means. We will be broadcasting the service live from the Chapel building and will start at 10:30am. This service will be broadcast on Facebook and on Zoom. You are welcome to join us at the Chapel (please wear a mask and observe all social distancing and hygiene guidance) or to watch online but we are encouraging everyone to try and watch/join in at the same time.
The service will include praise led by Sarah including traditional harvest hymns. Sarah is also looking at teaching us to sign a couple of the songs as a means to help us praise God in song despite current restrictions.
Dave will share some thoughts on how we can practically celebrate harvest and support others at this time.
Bob will be preaching on Matthew 9:35 -the big Harvest we all need to be part of.
Please do not bring your Harvest gifts to the chapel this year. There will be a small display for decorative purposes. Instead we are asking you to do one of the following:
Donate directly to Smethwick Food Bank
Donate directly – either food or financially to Birmingham City Mission
Speak to one of the church leaders if you would like to be connected with a local family who need a bit of extra support -e.g. through having shopping bought for them.
Speak to one of us if you need help yourself or know someone who does.
