Discussion -how should men and women treat each other in a church?

I mentioned last week, a planned life group discussion on this topic. I thought it might be helpful to share the discussion outline/questions here. Feel free to make use of it in your own context. I’ve got a couple of articles planned that dig further into the topic.

Set up for the discussion

A slightly different life group -we are going to do some occasional topical studies thinking practically about how we care for one another in the life of the church.

  • Q:  What is a Gospel Culture?
  • A:  Where what we believe about grace is lived out among us

Together

Key text = Galatians 3:26-29.  See also Genesis 1:26-28 & 1 Peter 3:7.

  • Q1.  How are men and women described?
  • Q2. What are the implications of this?

In Smaller breakout groups

  1. What experiences do different people  have about how they are treated/how others relate to them  in the community/at work/etc
  2. What experiences do different people have about how they are treated/how others relate to them in the church?
  3. Similarities/differences better/worse?
  4. What are helpful/unhelpful behaviours from others as you seek to live a godly life as part of God’s family.

*The hope is that we hear from different people including married/single/with and without children

Summing up together

  1. Did anything surprise you?
  2. What is the main thing that you’ve learnt today?
  3. Is there anything you would do differently?
