Handing on the baton

After a summer break for August, the Faithroots Podcast returns this week. We’re rounding up our look at 1 Chronicles.

1 Chronicles 22 -29

  5. Concerned about his inexperience
  6. Wants the house to be magnificent.
  7. Extra detail about him not building the House because he has shed blood  (cf 1 Kings 5:3-5)
  • He arranges for help (22:17-27:34)
  • A calling to come and help in response to God blessing the people and giving them peace.

Practical lessons

  1. Prepare for the future
  2. Invest in leaders
  3. Rely on God
  4. Hold lightly to life here, hold tightly to eternal hope.

The Big Picture

  • The Chronicler puts the focus on the Temple as the end goal -everything David has been working towards.
  • David’s life’s work was about God being honoured and glorified and ensuring God’s people were in God’s presence under God’s provision
  • This points towards the bigger vision -the house God was preparing and the coming of Emmanuel

Discussion

  1. What part has God called us to play in the building of his kingdom?
  2. What can/should we be doing to help prepare for the next generation?
