Tell me the stories of Jesus

Based on El Greco

A little while back I started to record some audio files, just working through Luke’s Gospel in my own words.  My aim was to start thinking about how we communicate the Gospel story, especially but not exclusively to children.

One of my concerns is that Children’s Bible story books skim the surface, losing crucial detail and what is more, they have a habit of changing the story at times, sometimes to ease sensibilities and sometimes skewed by theological agendas.  Of course, we need to be age sensitive and of course there is a risk of any of us skewing the telling of the story.  However, I thought that the best way to protect against those risks was simply to work through a Gospel, covering he same material and details but in my own words.

I’m beginning to share the output here.

The aim is to encourage parents and kids club leaders that it is possible for you too, to simply tell the stories of Jesus that children will love to hear in your own words.  So, I’m happy for you to use these audio files and listen to them together, chatting through what is going on afterwards.  However, I’d even more want to encourage you to have a go
