Romans 2:6-11

If God is a righteous judge and not biased, then your ethnic identity, Jew or Greek counts for nothing.  God judges according to how we live, what we do, our works (v6).  If you patiently do what is right or  “do well”, in other words are faithful and seek for what is good, described in terms of honour and glory, then you will receive it, you will be given eternal life. That the next verse talks about being “self seeking” negatively suggests that it is not one’s own glory and honour that is sought but God’s (v7).   However, those who are selfish, for themselves, who are disobedient and unrighteous, there is only God’s wrath, his just anger and punishment to come (v8). This distinction between those who do right and those who do evil that traverses the Jew-Greek or Jew-Gentile divide is reinforced as Paul promises tribulation to evil doers and glory, honour and peace to the righteous (v9-10).  God is impartia (v11)l.  This of course opens up the question as to whether such blameless, faithful righteousness is possible.
