I’ve introduced a new Faithroots Audio page. The first audios included on the page are a selection of sermons that I’ve preached at Church Central North covering most genres of Scripture.
One reason for sharing those sermons is to help those learning to preach. I’d like you to get a flavour for how different topics and books of the Bible can be approached.
Obviously they are preached by a fallible human being who is still learning, with plenty of room for improvement. So, I welcome feedback on my own preaching. However, giving feedback to others can also be helpful too as we finetune our own preaching.
So, what I’d encourage you to do as you train is to start with the sermons here and then go on to doing the same exercise with other preachers’ sermons whether online or in person in your own church. Have a go at answering the following questions.
- How long was the sermon?
- What was the context?
- What genre of Scripture were they preaching from?
- How did the preacher introduce the subject? Are there any other ways they could have done this?
- What did they consider to be the main point of the text? Do you agree with them?
- What was their main application? Would you add any other applications for your context?
- What illustrations did they use?
- What was the tone of the talk.
I’ve mentioned previously when talking about feedback that whilst it can be helpful to then add in discussion about what worked well and what would make it even better, that the best kind of feedback is this kind of objective feedback that helps you as a listening and the preacher to understand what has been communicated and whether objectives were delivered.
If you wish to discuss any of the sermons further, please use the contact form below.
