New Horizons – next steps (Early 2021)

Here’s the next update for our plans. As you will know, I finish with Bearwood Chapel on the 31st December.  We have said that we are open to wherever God leads us and over the past few weeks that has led to some fascinating conversations. We have been challenged and encouraged to hear about both the need and what God is already doing around the country.

Our aim is to spend time praying things through and continuing to listen then at the start of the New Year, we will be able to firm things up more in terms of the direction of travel.  It does look like we will be eventually relocating from the West Midlands. Currently there are a couple of churches that we have had initial conversations with.

We have also been looking very seriously at West Yorkshire and the possibility of relocating to start leading some pioneer church planting work. Regular readers will know that I have a passionate concern to see healthy multi-cultural churches in and around my home city of Bradford. We’ve been talking to other churches in the area and some mission agencies with concern for cross cultural gospel work in the UK.

Wherever we end up, we currently believe we are called to keep focusing on encouraging urban mission whether through leading a plant or by supporting and sending others into estate and inner city contexts.

If we relocate then timing will be affected by Sarah’s work as she cannot fully move until the summer.  It may be that we will be able to begin the process of relocating from after Easter but we are likely to be mainly based here for a little while longer. In the meantime, there is a lot I can be doing through blogging, Zoom, Facebook and Youtube to connect with people for discipleship and coaching.

You will have seen that I have set up a Support page to encourage people to consider partnering with us and others involved in urban ministry.  At present we do not have major financial or material worries though some may wish to provide support which will help with ministry expenses, potential relocation costs and National Insurance & pension contributions.
