I saw this claim on Facebook recently.

It seems that the person posting knows nothing of either history or the human heart. History is sadly full of examples of antisemitism and violent atrocities against Jews.
Here in England, there are too many brutal examples. There was the massacre of Jews trapped in Clifford’s Tower, York by a mob in 1190. One hundred years later Edward 1st ordered the expulsion of all Jews from England. Most of the worst examples of antisemitic progroms were during that period. However there has been a long history of antisemitism here leading up to Oswald Mosley in thr 20th Century. This was of course replicated across Europe with the worst example being the Holocaust.
Antisemitics may have made use of the Palestinian cause and Islam may have its own historic problems with Jew hate, however this evil was present before the modern state of Israel and conflict in Gaza. This evil is present in secular, Muslim and Christian cultures.
Further, the author may claim that there would have been other saviours to step in had a muslim not stepped in and risked his life. The reality is that it was the Muslim who stepped in and noone else.
We cannot assume that a country where Muslims are excluded will be one free from antisemitism. Indeed, take a look at these pages from my friend Ryan Burton King’s book on early Baptist arguments for freedom of conscience.

It shows how in Elizabethan times anti Muslim sentiments went hand in hand with antisemitism.
We need to be careful that whilst claiming to be against one prejudice, we are not simply hiding another one.
