I’ve seen a few comments from Christians, particularly those identifying as Christian Nationalists promoting Restore Britian as the political party to get behind. This, by Aaron Edwards, is a more extensive treatment of the subject than the usual social media comments. The basis for this is that Lowe has talked about a return to Christian values.
I thought it might be worth a look at some examples of the policies that Restore Britian are promoting. I’ve already dealt with one example here:
Here’s another. In response to reports that a Somalian had attempted to decapitate a person in Northern Ireland, Lowe posted:
Now, I’m sure that most of us will sympathise with an initial visceral response. We will want real, meaningful penalties for such heinous crimes. Some of us will favour the return of the death penalty for such crimes. I personally would not. However, I can understand why some do. However, that penalty should be due to the crime and true for all, not just for immigrants. This reaction cannot surely be reserved for when the case fits with our views on ethnicity and immigration.
However, notice that Lowe argues that the death penalty for the individual would not be enough. So, how would he go further? What more justice is needed or possible? Lowe’s answer is the mass deportation of immigrants. He elsewhere talks about a “vast number”, “millions” who need deporting. The implication is that all immigrants, perhaps even all non-white ethnic groups are to be deported from Britian. By the way, remember that he has also made it clear that Jewish practices are considered un-British too if you want to get a sense of where this does, or rather, doesn’t stop.
What we are seeing here is a commitment to holding entire ethnic groups, entire communities as responsible for the crime of one person. This is not about justice, it is about racial prejudice and discrimination. Indeed, it is about a form of ethnic cleansing. For Britian to be restored, it first has to be purified. Those from other cultures and countries are described as “savages”.
In previous posts he has talked about holding Tony Blair accountable for what he did to Britain, whatever that means. It sounds more like Robespierre’s revolutionary France than democratic Britian, doesn’t it? In the below post he threatens prison to politicians who have persued immigration policies he disagrees with. Notice again the reference to “savages” and the judging of the motives of others, that they intentionally bring savages in.
What such threats do, is that they undermine the principles of democracy. Politicians who lose elections are not allowed to serve in opposition, not allowed to debate what happens next. Instead, they are thrown into jail by the victors. That’s not democracy, it’s the kind of thing we see in despotic regimes. Some people might call it “savage”.
Restore Britian does not in any shape or form offer a Christian Britian. Indeed, the very values that it upholds are not even British values. Lowe’s vision is a dystopian one. I’m sure that those Christians who have unwittingly lent him their support will be quick to recognise their mistake and withdraw it.
